Stove Top Beef Stew

A slow cooker beef stew recipe for your stove top!

  • 1 lb stewing beef
  • 2 carrots diced
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 can (284 ml) beef stock
  • 2 onions diced
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp oil


  • Heat a large saucepan over medium heat and add oil. Add stewing beef and brown.
  • Add carrots and onions and cook for another 5 minutes. Add garlic and stir. Add flour and stir.
  • Add the red wine, beef stock and bay leaf. Stir. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 2 1/2 hours.
